“Study the past if you would divine the future” (Confucius)

History at its simplest is a story of human progress.   It provides details about important events that have been instrumental in the leading humans to the present point in time and in helping to shape the direction we are headed.   History also tells us about the people who have been important in leading us to where we are now.  Throughout history there have been many important individuals who have made important decisions that impacted the world.

While history is a story it also is an important tool, which if used can help humans make decisions that affect the future.   Every decision affects every future decision and history is a study of decisions made by individuals which affected the world and shaped the why it is today.  By understanding history, we can perhaps avoid making mistakes made by our predecessors and equally important learn to make good decisions about our own lives.

History, then, also is about our own personal story; how and why we got to where we are; who affected us in our lives and our family’s lives; and learning how to think in a manner that helps us make good decisions.
