Assignments for the Week of April 21 - 25
1. On Thursday, you will take an open-note qwest on #14, # 16, and # 17. The purposes of this are to assimilate important information and ideas and to practice taking clear, accurate and useful notes. Sometimes students take copious notes, and have trouble finding the information they need in their notes later on. This quest is a chance to hone that skill, which will come in handy, I promise! Here are a few tips to help you succeed:
* Make sure that you UNDERSTAND what you are writing down!
* Summarize the key ideas in your own words.
* Do NOT copy word for word! It's a waste of time, and will make it harder to navigate your notes.
* Draw a timeline, and add dates to it as you read.
* You might want to make a separate vocabulary list. You may want to make a list of the people involved, too.
* After your notes are finished, go through them again and mark them up.
I will send you a couple of sample questions tomorrow, so you fell more comfortable on Wednesday.
